In May 2024, about 235,000 candidates took the TET exam, with around 109,000 passing.
A slight decrease in participation is expected for the January TET due to the recent District Selection Committee (DSC) exams. Since the exam is online, scheduling will take about 7 to 10 days.
To be eligible for the TET, candidates need specific qualifications. For Paper 1, a Diploma in Elementary Education (D.Ed.) is required. For Paper 2, a Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.) is needed.
This certification is essential for promotions to School Assistant positions, and many in-service teachers are likely to apply.
The Telangana TET has been held nine times, and the January 2024 session will be the tenth. This year, the government is offering two TETs to meet the growing need for certified teachers.
In the May 2024 TET, 286,381 candidates applied. For Paper 1, 57,725 candidates passed, giving a pass rate of 67.13%. In Paper 2, 51,443 candidates passed, with a pass rate of 34.18%. These results show improvement over 2023.
The next TET will take place in January 2024, with more details to come. A slight decrease in candidates is expected due to the DSC exams.
Candidates who did not pass can reapply for the upcoming TET without any application fee. Those who qualify will also get a free application for the DSC exam.
